Many gather around their televisions each evening in hopes of discovering something truly AMAZING. There’s the AMAZING RACE, AMAZING  stories, The AMAZING spider man, AMAZING Births, AMAZING Grace, The AMAZING Journey, The AMAZING Salsa Dance, The AMAZING Magic  Show, The AMAZING World of Gumball, The AMAZING Captain Nemo, and my personal favorite…Mr Ed, The AMAZING Talking Horse (you may remember that one back in 1961) … this generation was raised on Beevis and Buthead but I want you to know that I come from a generation of truly wholesome television  entertainment  of “talking horses”  With all the distractions of the amazing TV programming it is a wonder that some can find time for reading the Word at all…  It’s like the mother who received a home visit from her pastor. Desiring to impress upon the pastor the great depths of her spirituality and devotion, she turned to her young daughter and said, “ sweetie, do me a favour and go and get that book YOU know your mother loves to read”. The little girl returned with the TV guide.

In the book of Timothy we see a young man who was raised on the Word of God and because of the strong Christian influence in his life he was wise in the matters of salvation

2Tim 3:15-17- And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures , which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works

In this blog I want to share about the Amazing Word of God and the wonder which is found in the pages of scripture. To “wonder” speaks of having a cause for admiration and having a cause to be excited. Most today have more “Wonder for the World” than “Wonder in the Word”. Some have more WONDER in their bread but have NO APPETITE for the WONDER in the BREAD of LIFE.

The Word of God is the most AMAZING REVELATION in the UNIVERSE.

• The WORD of GOD is the MOST AMAZING REVELATION in the UNIVERSE but we need our eyes opened to see the treasures which are within it.
  • Psalm 119:18- Open thou mine eyes , that I may behold WONDROUS things [wonders] out of thy law
    • Wonderous= great, difficult, the ability to distinguish [discern]- heb “pala”-paw-law= to be marvelous, be wonderful, be surpassing, be extraordinary, things beyond one’s power
  • When our eyes are open WE CAN DO the Word-
    • Heb 5:13- For everyone that useth milk is UNSKILFUL in the Word of Righteousness: for he is a babe…But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil

SOME AMAZING THINGS ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD

1. There are many fine works of literature written by the finest minds…but the bible was written by FISHERMEN, tax collectors, prisoners, doctors, kings, prophets, uneducated men…holy men who did not pen their OWN IDEAS but HOLY MEN of God who spake as they WERE MOVED by the HOLY GHOST (2Peter1:21)
2. Over 150 years ago Voltaire, the French playwright/philosopher stated that, “Christianity is the most ridiculous, the most absurd, and bloody religion that ever infected the world”. He also said that within 100 years the bible would only be found in a museum. Today Christianity is spread throughout the Nations and the Bible is the Most popular book in the WORLD with over 50 sold every minute…it is the MOST SOLD book in the WORLD and also the MOST SHOPLIFTED. It is available in over 2500 languages and is the most TRANSLATED. The BIBLE also holds the distinction of being the FIRST BOOK EVER WRITTEN when the PRINTING press was developed in 1454.
3. Today it is hard to get anyone to agree on anything. It is an age when men are lovers of their OWN SELVES, disobedient to parents and authority figures, trucebreakers, false accusers, despisers of those who are good. This is the RIGHT IN MY OWN EYES GENERATION…the “TRUTH IS WHAT is TRUE for ME Generation
   1. Amos 3:3 says that “can two walk together, except they be agreed?” THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN over a period of 1600 years with 40 authors all attesting to the reality of GOD, His Son, and His plan for man (40 people over 1400 years in agreement…amazing!

The BIBLE is the Most Amazing Book!

When you are DOWN, it lifts you up. When you are UP, it will bring you DOWN. When you are IN , it will get you OUT. When you are OUT, it will bring you IN

One common “complaint” you hear from time to time…the bible is hard to understand… NOT REALLY if you know it’s author and WHO to look for when you read it…”All scripture is given by inspiration of God , and is profitable for DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, for INTRUCTION  in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2Tim 3:16) “SEARCH the SCRIPTURES, for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39

4 reasons  many do not understand the bible

• Some WON’T believe it- Heb 11:6- “But without FAITH it is impossible to please HIM”
• Some have NO DESIRE for GOD- “1Peter 2:2- As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby”
• Some will not make the effort- 2Tim 2:15…study
• Some are LOST- 2 Cor 4:3- But if our gospel be hid , it is hid to them that are LOST

The WORD is so AMAZING you need metaphors to communicate the many FORCES which are LIVING in it

• The WORD is a SWORD- Eph 6:17
• The Word is LIGHT- Psalm 119:105- TWIALUMFAALUMP
• The WORD is FIRE- Jer 5:14- “BECAUSE YOU SPEAK THIS WORD …I will make MY Words in your mouth FIRE
• The Word is SEED- “Being Born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, BY THE WORD OF GOD, which liveth and abideth forever”- 1Peter 1:23
• The Word is like a HAMMER which BREAKS IN PIECES- Jer 23:29
• The WORD is like NOURISHING MILK- 1Peter 2:2- “desire the sincere Milk”
• The Word is like apples- Prov 25:11- “A Word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver”
• The WORD is like HONEY- Psalm 119:103- How sweet are thy Words to my taste, yea sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
• The Word is like BREAD- Mat 4:4
• The Word is like MEAT- 1Cor 3:2
• The Word is like a mirror- James 1:22-25

The Word Tranforms us into different beings (2Cor 5:17)

IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD, AND THE WORD WAS GOD. THE SAME WAS IN THE BEGINNING WITH GOD. ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM AND WITHOUT HIM WAS NOT ANYTHING MADETHAT WAS MADE. IN HIM WAS LIFE; AND THE LIFE WAS THE LIGHT OF MEN …AND THE LIGHT SHINETH IN DARKNESS ; AND THE DARKNESS COMPREHENDED IT NOT…BUT AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM, TO THEM GAVE HE POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD, EVEN TO THEM THAT BELIEVE ON HIS NAME
